Frequently Asked Questions

  • Initial Assessment: £95 per hour

Therapy sessions - £95 per 60 minutes session

Some sessions such as trauma processing will need to be up to 90 minutes in length. The cost of this will be £145. We will discuss this with you when exploring treatment options.

  • Don’t worry, we will take time to do a thorough assessment and explore options with you. You just need to be open and honest about your difficulties and let us do the rest. If we think you need a therapy that we can’t offer, we will support you in the right direction to get the help you need.

  • We will start off by working with you in a one-one assessment to understand your main difficulties. We may use specific questionnaires as part of the assessment process to support our understanding of you. Through assessment, we can determine what support may be most helpful. This will take up to 60 minutes. After this we will discuss treatment options with you. In some cases, we may think that you require a type of support that is different to what we offer, in those cases we can make recommendations and signpost you to appropriate services. If you opt for treatment within our service, we would be able tailor a support package based on NICE guidance and the evidence based research to best support your needs and help you achieve your goals.

  • No. You are not required to have any kind of mental health diagnosis to access therapy with us. If you are looking for a mental health diagnosis, please speak to your GP.

  • Typically, CBT sessions are 60 minutes long. There may be instances where a specialist CBT intervention is recommended and therefore this may require a longer session time (90 minutes) – this would be discussed with you if required.

With EMDR we would typically use 60-minute sessions in the preparation phases only (the initial 2-3 sessions) and 90 minute sessions thereafter for the trauma processing.

  • Regular attendance is important, like gym classes and physio, you get out what you put in. People also get the best out of therapy when they work on themselves in between sessions. We will work with you to come up with ideas to practice to consolidate your learning and help yourself to feel better. Also come up with a goal - have a sense of what you want to be different about your life when therapy is over, this helps to guide us in the right direction.

  • We offer both. We are excited to be working with the White House Clinic based in Sandygate in Sheffield (S10) where we are offering face to face therapy. If you are unable to get to that location however, we can offer remote therapy using Microsoft Teams or telephone sessions. All you need is a phone, an email address and a good telephone/internet connection.

If you would like to book a face to face session at the White House Clinic please contact them on 0114 2302030 and the admin team will be happy to help you out.

Alternatively please visit the White House Clinic website at White House Clinic

  • If you do not attend a planned session or you cancel the session within 24 hours prior, you will still be required to pay 50% of the session fee. If you give us more than 24 hours’ notice then you will not be charged. Due to our waiting list, we may have to discharge you if you fail to attend or cancel 3 appointments. This allows us to give everyone a fair chance at accessing therapy.

  • This is a difficult question to answer because everyone is different. However we are trained to deliver CBT in up to 16-20 sessions. That does not mean you will need that many sessions, some people need far less. We will conduct therapy reviews every 4-6 sessions to make sure you are on the right track.

  • Therapy sessions are confidential between you, the practitioner and their Clinical Supervisor. The exceptions to this are when a risk is posed to yourself, someone else or a child. If this occurs then we have a duty of care to breach confidentiality and to inform relevant organisations to ensure the safety of those involved. We will also breach confidentiality if you indicate you are engaging in illegal activities.
